And as far as governance models, Sociocracy @sociocracyforall.bsky.social is the best I’ve come across.

Honest to goodness, Indivisible @indivisible.org is one of the best examples I’ve seen of this.

I think about the roles of leaders who steer organizations, for example, and how to guide people while also instilling a sense of ownership, responsibility, and initiative in them.

I’ve found that many, often unconsciously, look for others to do the organizing and just sort of expect the paths and action steps to be laid out for them.

In fact, I want fair resources for all our needs:

A wealthy town in our state just approved $660 *million* for a new high school.

Fixing our heating system would be $650 *thousand*.

I’m doing homework for that class right now and about an hour ago went looking for a book by Alfie Kohn for a little solace (also bc the far right just won in Chile and I’m back to asking myself where education’s going wrong)

Same. I’m taking a class now where in one module a resource was literally about mapping our assessment practices in world languages to letter grades and being transparent with students. And at a recent conference lots of workshops on grading our “performance assessments.” It’s a journey for sure.

Congrats! I’m a Spanish teacher, grateful that our standards have embraced better assessment practices that actually support student learning. Still unlearning traditional grading practices & of course function in a world of letter grades (just done w progress reports) but I’m grateful nonetheless ❤️

And of course, those who’ve always supported the right and Pinochet.

Or those who feel if they’re ok, others can go to hell.

Can’t dismiss nor forget them.

Same story as the US. Just one year behind.

Immigrants who’ve become Chilean citizens voted for Kast against their own interests.

Low-income people, same.

Fear of crime and blaming immigrants were the weapon.
