Today President Biden commuted the sentences of nearly all federal inmates on death row. 37 of the 40 have had their sentences converted to life imprisonment.

President elect Trump has vowed to expand the number of crimes to which the death penalty applies.

The Cherokee’s belief in the interconnectedness of all things in nature is the focal point of my historical novel “Sovereign Oak.”

Enjoyed the Reeves budget.
A woman at the top of UK politics that doesn't have her nose up her own backside.
Sure you can't keep everyone happy but overall I thought it good.
Best though, was watching Hunt & Sunak showing false outrage as all laughed at them.
Any budget is better than a Tory budget.

Good.

Extremism rarely stays in one lane. There is so much cross over between racism and misogyny that often, one can’t be tackled without the other.

So bored of these kinds of hot takes on mental health. As someone who lives with PTSD, it's not "just words" but a condition that has a profound impact on every part of my life, and my ability to get through any given day. I'm lucky to have support in that, too many don't and therein lies the issue.

Really interesting chat about whether or not people should leave X, or at least stop posting on it, due to the increasing toxicity. And also a hugely important discussion on worrying times for British Steel.

Well worth a listen. Thanks @lewisgoodall.bsky.social

Prominent in my mind after the disorder is how to build & maintain a broad coalition in the city in favour of the positive collective future we’re building

This #Sunderland Echo column is my 1st articulation of key parts of that: notably law & order for all.

LEWIS ATKINSON MP: We have a bright future ahead of us in Sunderland - let’s build that future together
I’m so proud of the city’s response to the appalling violent disorder we saw at the start of the month. Early in the morning after, when hundreds of us came together with brooms and shovels, we did so...
