Suddenly "hate speech" is bad. Suddenly "dehumanizing" people is bad. Suddenly "cancel culture" is good. Suddenly words have consequences.

For non-Brits: Our political/media class bet absolutely everything on it being fine to demonise and destroy the anti-racist left, who were getting too big for their boots, because the Sensible Moderates could co-opt and control the racist right. And they have now fucked it into the upper ionosphere.

MAGA Fascist Playbook in 4 simple points:

1. Frame politics as holy war. (existential "good vs evil")

2. Scapegoat enemies. ( as "demons," "Antichrists")

3. Declare an emergency. (nation under threat)

4. Seize power.

They derive these ideas from Nazi philosopher Carl Schmitt.

The weird thing in the whole BBB debate and vote, is how everyone works under the assumption "tax cuts are a need". Every journalist asks "will you cut Medicaid?", but just as a trade off , like "ok, everyone understands tax cuts, but why cut Medicaid?", and no one asks him "why tax cuts, at all?"

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.
Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

...and suddenly, no more Musky Trumpy falling out, no more Epstein crap coming up from the sewers.

All that's gone now, cause it's clubs and smoke and rubber pellets. In the end he'll arrive by helicopter, land amidst the turmoil and the smoke, jumping out holding a bible.

They're good at this.

I wonder how much time will it be until Beijing, or maybe Dubai, propose to simply "migrate" Harvard, import it, in its totality? New buildings, campuses, staff accomodation, labs. The heaviest investment in Advanced Education the world had ever seen, and worth every penny.
Even as Harvard looks to the courts for relief, faculty and administrators are making contingency plans and preparing for a drawn-out war with the Trump administration.
Harvard Digs In for Battle, but Trump’s Blows Are Landing
The president’s fight threatens to leave the school a different place even if it ultimately wins its lawsuits.

You can't help but think that, looking at the daily absurdities coming out of the American cabinet, the only truly off-brand move by Trump so far was to remove Matt Gaetz's invite to become the AG.

I mean, why? Just look at them all: would Gaetz really be out of his natural habitat (?)
