Charlie Kirk was a violent person and violent people often come to violent ends.
The only reason it feels shocking is we’re so used to straight, white, Christian men leveraging their power and privilege to avoid the same violence they promote.

Part of what keeps America so violent is the insistence that people perform care, empty goodness and absolution for white men who espouse hatred and violence.

I spent a whole week in a walkable rural community and it felt like living in a small town romance novel, except that I fell in love with pedestrian friendly infrastructure instead of the local baker/christmas tree farmer/innkeeper.
