A Year In, the MAGA Labor Market Story Has Fallen Apart

UNBELIEVABLE! We've had TEN people subscribe to the Big Chungus tier at $1000 each! If we could get TWO more Big Chungus subscribers, that'll cover our freelance writers' budget for the whole of next year. If we get EIGHT more that'll cover our artists' budget for the year too.

I REPEAT: the feds ordered his arrest even though he wasn’t breaking any laws.

The death of shame and its consequences, especially for public figures, is a huge reason why we are in this place as a country. Shame as a concept is imperfect and can be abused, but we should absolutely be able to say that people with horrific, hateful beliefs must be made pariahs.

it's absolutely critical to understand in this moment that people aren't largely reacting to who Charlie Kirk was as a person, but who they knew him as because of what tiny pieces of him got clipped out and stuck in their newsfeeds.
reposting with alt text because this feels incredibly significant. the right-wing disinfo machine means a lot of the people grieving Charlie Kirk never heard any of the things he said that would have tarnished his brand as Guy Who Just Wants to Have Dialogue Across the Aisle
