Happy birthday to the Soviet linguist Yuri Knorozov who casually deciphered the Mayan script in 1952 and got pissed when editors removed his cat as co-author on papers or cropped her out of his author headshot (the only picture of himself he even liked)

Cost-saving? COST-SAVING?? The "cost" is that we pay those people to do the science that gives us wifi, cancer treatments, vaccines, and drought resistant crops! You don't get those outcomes WITHOUT paying people for them! It's not "cost-saving", it's "ADVANCEMENT & BREAKTHROUGH REDUCING", you FUCKS
That's more than 1,100 jobs lost at the CSIRO over the last two years.

"Combined, the staff association estimates that equates to cutting the agency’s size by a third."

This is more cuts to the CSIRO than was attempted by the Abbott government.

Madness.

Adapt, change, but right now we need non-corporatised scientific research and development more than ever - based on social benefit and not profitability (although that can often follow). And there's a shed-load of US scientists looking for lifeboats.

"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

And time is slowing down
And if we only had a little more time
And this time is all there is

What episodic RPGs handle the b-plot concept well?

As in: Mulder and Scully are here to investigate the Cornfield Visions but also the local cop used to date Scully and tries to win her back to the normal, small-town Americana life that could have been.
