I didn’t have cause to look at day-to-day fluctuations until last week, but given the erratic and nonsensical economic decisions of this administration, I am now very aware of how much of my hard-earned savings has disappeared. Almost feeling bad I didn’t spend it instead of being responsible.

ICE agents stormed a Detroit home yesterday at dawn and hauled off two asylum-seeking cousins — kids with work permits and court dates — then shipped them to a detention center in Texas.

Folks, if your library doesn’t have a book you want to read, ask them to buy a copy. Most have a convenient form and will let you know when it comes in. If your library offers ILL, they can even borrow books from other libraries.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
