If you are a person who told everyone they were overreacting in 2016, and you have since realized you were wrong, I think you have a valuable role to play right now:

Talk to people who aren't convinced things are *that bad* about why you were wrong and what you wish you had done differently.

I keep thinking about how these fascists like Charlie Kirk use trap beats at Turning Point events to appeal to younger audiences but then get appalled when a Black man actually raps to those beats.

They're culture vultures fundamentally incapable of creating art.

Ignore the media headlines reporting that freezing federal spending or shuttering federal agencies “raise questions” or “push boundaries.” It’s an anticonstitutional lawbreaking spree.
Breaking the Law
Just weeks in, the Trump administration has violated rules, laws, and the Constitution.

WATCH: JC Bowman of @proedtn says there are only ~3000 empty private school seats in TN, so @govbilllee knows most of his vouchers will go to kids already in private schools… and with private costing too much anyway, segregation will be the result.

Just an FYI, these lawsuits have already been happening for awhile. We handled two in the Houston Courts of Appeals last year (filed in Galveston County). But the political makeup of the appellate courts changed dramatically on Jan 1 so I guess we’ll see!
“Texas’s largest antiabortion organization launches an advertising campaign on Facebook and X to reach the husbands, boyfriends & sex partners of women who have had abortions in the state — with the goal of recruiting them to file lawsuits against those who assisted the women in ending pregnancies.”
Anti-abortion advocates are running ads to find & encourage men to betray and sue their partners. This makes me sick. wapo.st/40nfmD2

You do not have to consume every single tiny piece of bad news in order to be a good person. It’s ok to miss things. Traumatizing yourself isn’t the same as activism. Bearing witness to the point that you’re paralyzed with fear and horror and fury isn’t going to help us get through this.
Remember their goal is to terrorize us. And social media is a fantastic way to spread terror. We don’t have to help them.
Based on the vibes of my timeline today I’m feeling like the next two weeks are probably gonna be a really good time to reduce social media use as much as possible. Because YIKES.

physics of climate impacts 101:
- Stuff gets hot (worse heatwaves)
- Hot air holds more water vapor (heavier rainfall)
- Hot air is thirstier air (higher drought risk)
- Warm water is hurricane food (stronger storms)
- Hot water expands and hot ice melts (sea level rise)

A lot of people think everything will work out if we just play by the rules but don’t seem to recognize that rules only matter when everyone agrees to follow them and, well, that isn’t our present reality.
