As someone who works in retail, Costco employees are known to be treated fairly. They aren’t “just a number”. They don’t need a union because Costco pays them appropriately (higher wage and benefits). It’s really hard to get hired on because turnover is minimal. If only ALL retailers did that.
Earlier this year at Costco, I overheard a teen employee ask their manager for a chat.
Manager: “Are you on break?”
Teen: “Yes.”
Manager: “Ok, wait until you clock back in. Enjoy your break.”
Having worked retail, I braced for the worst, and was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t reversed.
Manager: “Are you on break?”
Teen: “Yes.”
