Apropos of nothing, Wario is the evil doppelgänger of Mario. I've always assumed this is a pun on the Japanese "warui" (悪い), meaning "bad" or "evil", but I've never seen that stated definitively. Of course, it also inverts the "M" to a "W". Waluigi is technically an even better pun,
