Because of my stubborn insistence to only take public transit and not drive, it’ll take me an additional hour to get to my destination, so here’s a 🧵 on public transit in San Francisco.

“The USSR constrained housing supply”

America does this as well. The difference is that housing supply is constrained by capital, and because capitalists view poverty as a moral failure, this constraint is seen as ethical.
Under capitalism, housing prices are set by supply and demand and housing is allocated by people’s ability to pay.

In the absence of brand new homes for them to buy, the wealthy will bid up the price of the best available existing homes and renovate them into luxury.

Call me crazy, but I think the ONLY reason homeless people are homeless is because they lack housing. Otherwise, they’d be housed drug addicts (as the NY Post likes to call them)

Oh wow it’s like CPD said. They can’t guarantee FLOCK data isn’t abused.
New: a judge has ruled that Flock surveillance images are public records that can be requested by anyone. Shows that at least in some cases, police cannot withhold the data collected by its surveillance systems.

A Washington judge said images taken by Flock cameras are "not exempt from disclosure" in public record requests.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

This is why Kaine voted the way he did. When he comes up to election, suddenly Warner will be the villain.

They are betting you’ll forget their voting record. Don’t.

Primary Warner so Kaine will know what’s next.

I called both. Warner lets you leave a voicemail. Kaine didn’t.
URGENT: Call Mark Warner - 202-224-2023 and Tim Kaine - (202) 224-4024 and tell them NOT to cave to the GOP on the shutdown without a minimum one year extension on the ACA subsidies!
I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.

It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

I feel like I don’t need a more complex argument than “No it isn’t” to respond to this point.
