Climate report. Picked my coat up this morning. Old dog leaps to her feet, tail wagging. 5 month puppy just looks bemused. In 14 weeks I've needed a coat for walks maybe 5-10 times? (This is Odd, standard schnauzer pup currently hitting adolescence hard).

It is in the incongruities of Dick’s novels that salvation is to be found. Even at his battiest, he retains a sense of humor. Obviously, it is less easy to see the joke when one is living through it. Dystopias may sometimes be grimly funny—but rarely from the inside. @himself.bsky.social

UK and US refuse to sign international AI declaration
It follows a warning from US Vice President JD Vance that excessive regulation could "kill a transformative industry."

How fortunate that on the very day that Trump champions illegal ethnic cleansing he has a phone conversation with a famously principled lawyer who no doubt told him that he's breaching both international and moral law. No doubt at all. I'm sure they just forgot to mention that bit of the call.

Paying back both interest and capital today. It was worth the cost of the loan.

It's just occurred to me that there's a logic to Labour. They can only lose my vote once regardless of how many different policies that would each lose my vote they adopt, so once they've started being intolerable they might as well keep going and hope for some right wing votes in return.

Regrettably Bluesky often feels like that moment in a waiting room when a stranger says something to you and you answer civilly only to realise they were actually talking to the person next to you and now they are both complaining to each other loudly over your head about how rude people are.

In 2016, Nick and I co-wrote a novella called The Last Pantheon.

NewCon Press is reissuing this in an illustrated hardback and paperback.

*All* the proceeds go to the family. I've waived all my entitlements and this should help the family in these uncertain times.

Pre-orders are open.
