Since the time I was a PhD student, I've always found the annual #LinguisticLandscape workshop to be a welcoming, almost familial space. Where else can you enjoy a mother-son talk, like today's "Collapse and transformation of Jefferson Street in Nashville Tennessee" by Becky and Nick Garvin? ❤️ #LL16

And thank you to the organizers of #LL16 for a truly inspiring conference. @ll16-ude.bsky.social

In a chaotic world and 2 weeks into the new semester at home, it's a true pleasure to be at the 16th #LinguisticLandscape workshop with old friends and new, and such a warm welcome from #LL16 hosts at @unidue.bsky.social in Essen
The semi-final (we're optimistic, but also realistic) version of the #LL16 program is now available!

You might also notice some more updates to our website, particularly dedicated to our Art and Transformation session on the final conference day.

Enjoy!

I can't be at @ll16-ude.bsky.social in person today, but my co-author @janapithan.bsky.social will present our work on posthuman linguistic landscapes tonight. If you are interested in voices in the linguistic landscape and the agency of trash cans, come and see Jana at our poster!

Kind reminder to please remember to bring your own equipment if you're presenting at #ll16!
Our conference rooms do not have computer systems and, like many universities in Germany, the University of Duisburg-Essen does not provide conference attendees with laptops.

We are aware of participants receiving phishing emails from a company calling itself variably "Global Travel Team", "Operations Global", or "Travel Team".

#LL16 has not provided participants' email addresses to any third party, nor published them online.

Please, do not respond to these messages!

We recently spotted this excellent volume by #LL16 plenarist Jackie Jia Lou @loujiajackie.bsky.social in our university's collection.

With only ~150 more sleeps until #LL16, it's a great time to brush up on memorable LL studies. What's your go-to favorite?
