study after study after study shows that literally just handing people money and telling them "do what you want with this" reduces homelessness, increases food security for children, makes it more likely people will find and retain jobs.1

My. Garmin watch keeps telling me every morning that I’ve had a terrible night of sleep and I need to rest today, but also don’t nap too much, but also get some light exercise, but also try to stretch and relax. I think Garmin needs a ‘baby waking through the night’ setting.

Me: I would like to listen to this specific song.
Spotify: sure, here’s 30 minutes of ads then every possible song except that one song.

How exactly did we get to the point where wanting to listen to music is so impossible?

Everything in the world is more than a bit insane right now so I’m just going to hang out with my three-month-old who loves giggling and chewing everything, and colour in an elephant. That’ll do for now.

Yes. I am right. I am seeing how Chat GPT is ruining students critical thinking and writing skills in real time. It is not the future. It is a tool designed to render the populace helpless, to make people doubt their innate intelligence, and to foster overreliance on technology.
@roxanegay.bsky.social maybe you’re right.

How is it legal for insurance companies to charge you substantially more if you want to pay your premiums fortnightly or monthly? Hundreds of dollars more for the same product because people might not have thousands of dollars to pay upfront?
