In other knitting news, I finished my jumper! It's a good old Flax without the purl detail on the sleeves. 🧶

Look, I love crochet, but making 3 out of 4 weeks heavily dependent on crochet in a competition called BRITAIN'S BEST KNITTER is actually ridiculous. It's not fair on the contestants and it makes knitting seem like it's incapable of being versatile enough for the show, which is b*llox.

I found it! #gameofwool cause I'm seeing loads of posts saying knitted swimwear can't be glamorous, but this is lovely!

I really wish someone would comment on how hard knitting and crocheting with such thick yarn and enormous needles/hooks is on hands, wrists and shoulders.

And also the implication that they are sat still knitting for 12 hours without a break.

Health-wise, it's appalling.

You think they would have paired a stronger crochet person with one of the knitters who clearly only learned to crochet for the... knitting programme #gameofwool

love that most of these pairs are just pairing up the contestants who are still enthusiastic with the contestants most likely to throw themselves into the sea if they have to be on this show a minute longer #gameofwool

Why do womens swimwear have to be so skimpy, but mens has to be so covering?

I don't necessarily want to see the lads in skimpies. But the fundamental difference is being shown very clearly. And - sorry - it is sexist and wrong

I cannot find it now, but I saw a lady on Instagram the other day who had knitted a swimsuit and it was epically good. She looked amazing in it also. I think she knit it with like, lycra yarn, so it didn't retain loads of water either #gameofwool

I feel the need to alert anyone who loves #f1 and also knits / crochets or knows a knitter, that Truly Hooked has made an F1 collection of yarn with a colour for each team, and 4 special colours. Even as a Ferrari fan I think they Mercedes one is spectacularly on brand 🧶

I asked for Ferrari red nails, and I got them!

Game of Wool is frustrating - and I have similar feeling about the same format with sewing/pottery/baking. I like these shows but I want to see people do things brilliantly, not bodging their way through because of time. Give them longer and let me enjoy beautiful things. I don’t need the drama 😂

Another disservice Game of Wool is doing commissionable knitwear designers is the misrepresentation of the time it takes to knit at a professional level. I can't imagine how many are now going to hear "Your hourly rate is fine because this colorwork sweater is only going to take 12 hours, right?" 🧶

"This is my first time crocheting"
"I've never done intarsia"

In light of the first two episodes we can all rejoice that Britain's Best Knitters had the good sense to stand well clear

Hoping Holger holds it together for another week or so and then runs amok, setting fire to a pile of acrylic chunky and razing the whole place to the ground

And I still don't know who this programme is for? They still aren't explaining stuff for non knitters, and treating crochet and knitting as 'every knitter can do both' and wits therefore the same, is disingenuous for knitters and non knitters alike. #gameofwool

My last thoughts on #gameofwool for this week. Either the applicant vetters know nothing about knitting, which is bad. Or they know loads about knitting, in which case they knew they were throwing Meadow to the wolves in the name of entertainment, which is very bad.

This is just inexcusable. No one on the production team looked at this graphic illustrating "Knitting uses 2 needles" and had a momentary thought "maybe we could use a better graphic and not use AI"? #GameofWool

If they're crocheting on the regular, just turn it into a full "yarn art" competition. Do some needle felting, a bit of loom work too. hell, just make one of those nail & string pics while they're at it.

Judging the group challenge blind makes no sense whatsoever, the judges clearly need to know who did what unless they're kicking out the entire group #GameOfWool
