Since hashtags are not really the same kind of thing here as they were on Twitter, I'll use this thread to collect any of the Ozymandias-related gems I come across in my timeline. If the name doesn't ring a bell, here is the original. 1/
Ozymandias

Productive day at school today. Didn’t cross any jobs off my to-do list, but did bring order to my cupboard and have a good tidy up in the classroom. Now for a couple of days of rest.

As part of celebrating Bookshop Day, Bert’s is donating £100 worth of books to 12 schools across Swindon.

Literacy levels in Swindon have fallen behind the national average, so we’re making a commitment to do this every year – but it will take us seven years to make sure every school benefits.

fave non-fiction book this year. “Omnibird” by #GiselleClarkson is a brilliant, funny and informative illustrated guide that turns kids into avian detectives. Packed with science & humour it inspires readers to really look at the birds around them and see the extraordinary. @geckopress.bsky.social

Today’s reflections on teaching Reception come via Bishop Ken Untener.

This is what we are about:
We plant seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise.
We lay foundations that will need further development.

I had a great time reading Land of Roar by @jennymclachlan.bsky.social to my Yr 3 class last year. Last week one of them came bounding up to me to tell me he’d won a prize where he could choose any book, and he got Return to Roar and was loving it. Properly made my day!

Highlights of my teaching week were being outside with the children. Lots of fun playing with autumn leaves, sycamore seeds and throwing them up as everyone leapt into the air from our climbing blocks. Autumn 1 is exhausting in EYFS, but still full of joy!

Rounding off the weekend with smores round the fire pit. Some days are hard, but I like it when they end like this.

Back to school. Holidays ended yesterday with a trip to the allotments open day for some apple-pressing and ridiculously cheap and tasty cakes, before watching Wicked with friends. Standing at the top of the hill I hear a distant voice… “Mrs Plane!” and a moment later one of my kids from last year
