I’ve said it before, will doubtless say it again: These folks are going to be permanently resentful because they’re seeking political power as a substitute for cultural power, and it’s never going to give them what they actually want.
I love how far afield this is from any problem government can address. “Now that Trump won people have to like and agree with me and not tell me I suck anymore.” bsky.app/profile/yash...
2. “For the last four years, very acutely, and I know it preceded these four years as well, but there's been kind of a pressing down. A pressing down and kind of limiting what people can say.”

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.

This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

Every American should watch Trump and Vance berate an ally trying to defend the freedom of their country from a dictator who invaded them.

It’s an embarrassment to our nation for our president and vice president to represent us in this way. Totally disgusting. www.nytimes.com/video/us/pol...

What I feel is ashamed.
Trump to Zelenskyy: "Don't tell us what we're gonna feel. You're in no position to dictate that. You're in no position to dictate what we're gonna feel. We're gonna feel very good and very strong. You're right now not in a very good position. You're gambling with World War 3."

People need to understand that we are in an entirely new paradigm. It is now Russia the US against Ukraine and Europe. This is not a shift in US policy, it is a transformation of what kind of country the United States is in the world

In light of the disgraceful behavior by the president and vice president, every elected official, Republicans and Democrats alike, should step up to speak for freedom and the truth. If you're elected by the American people, you have some standing to try to save what can be saved of America's honor.

This pro-Trump reporter attacking Zelenksy like this is proof that the whole photo op was a set up. The Trumpist had a narrative going in -- Zelensky was disrespectful of Trump/USA, ungrateful, not worthy of support -- and everything was engineered with that narrative in mind.
The guy who asked Zelensky if he owned a suit, Brian Glenn, is a reporter for the pro-Trump media network Real America’s Voice and also Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's boyfriend. He got one of the rare Oval Office interviewer spots only after the White House blocked the Associated Press.

This whole thing was a deliberate set-up, and the real audience for it was not the American people. It was the global fascist movement.
No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.

Pretty clear. The goal here was to do a kind of ritual humiliation of Zelensky and Ukraine. They pushed Zelensky past his limit. Trump now says, in essence, you're own your own with Russia. Up to the free states of Europe now.
Trump declares that Zelensky is “not ready for peace,” accuses him of trying to prolong the war using U.S. leverage, and says he’s not welcome back at the White House “until he’s ready for peace.”

I think we have to agree that JD is such a sniveling little bitch.
ZELENSKYY: Putin broke the ceasefire. What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you speaking about?

VANCE: I think it's disrespectful to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media

THANK YOU to

-the witnesses who testified against the Jan. 6th defendants;

-the investigators and prosecutors who worked those cases;

-the indefatigable crowdsourcing volunteers who aided the investigators; and

-the members and staff of the House Jan. 6th Committee.

History will remember.
Sad and scary point raised by Sam, starting around 11:40: "In many cases, the convictions were done b/c people who were close to the guilty...risked their security to testify," including family members. Watch the footage of the son who testified against his father.
NEW: "I don't want to mince any words here. What this means is, on the first day of this administration, Donald Trump and his government have signaled that this is an administration that supports political violence....That is the takeaway....We are knee-deep in authoritarianism."
