On this date in 1532 was born Sir Thomas Lucy, a Protestant magistrate from Stratford who engaged in persecuting William Shakespeare's Catholic relations. Lucy is said to be mocked in two plays, including Henry IV, Pt. 2: "Thou art a shitmonger absolute, thy name, lousy. Eat thine own hole, knave."

I have never seen anything like this in NYC. 5th Ave covered from 42nd St well to the 20s. Nobody prepared for this volume. Volunteers are holding the traffic on all the side streets. No police in sight. #handsoff

Things Democratic Senators could do that would be useful:
- Withdraw unanimous consent from all Senate business until constitutional rule was restored
- Refuse to vote for any legislation until constitutional rule was restored
- Boycott as a caucus until constitutional rule was restored
