Some personal news: the Department of Homeland Security has given me, an immigration lawyer born in Newton, Massachusetts, seven days to leave the U.S. Does anyone know if you can get Italian citizenship through great-grandparents?

"A strong opposition movement needs to allow for people within it to exchange, debate and even disagree over the best way to solve problems. Failed oppositions seek to impose purity tests and purge dissent. Successful movements incorporate ideas from across the spectrum of its participants."
For people who saw the clip of me advocating for a new opposition movement and are asking for more info, here is the piece I wrote laying it out.

I hope you read, share and act.

I set up my Roku TV and felt attacked by all the fox /newsmax/ oan channels strongly recommended to me. I didn't find any alternative programming beyond generic abc & cbs. @meidastouch.bsky.social can you create a Roku channel?

Many of us are ok with leaving those corporations behind. I'm down to grow my own food and buy from local artists and barter with neighbors, I don't need Walmart. The easier we make it for local providers to thrive, the more people will choose it over the convenience of Amazon et al. ⤵️
Corporations are ready to suck up to President-elect Donald Trump: Some have already begun removing left-leaning policies from their websites, while others are requesting interviews on right-wing podcasts. www.wsj.com/politics/tru...

That's great, but what worries me is how vital issues like womens rights, health benefits, things we need for survival hinge on election outcomes. Laws suddenly flip-flop; one year they're upheld, the next they're undone. The instability is unsustainable. Fundamental rights should be law of the land
As Lieutenant Governor, women in Virginia will always be protected, no matter what Donald Trump tries to do in Washington.

Sometimes I wonder if our focus needs to get more narrow. Maybe we tackle gerrymandering first, then the electrical college, and THEN we can talk about "rebranding the democratic party"
This is wild. Dems would have taken control of Congress 218-217 had we won 2022 North Carolina Supreme Court races. But instead, GOP won the NC Supreme Court and gerrymandered 3 Dem seats into completely non-existence. Instead R’s now control the house 220-215.

I would add that Trump will benefit twice. Once because he’ll look strong and second because he can extort more companies into paying tribute.
This is getting overlooked, but the whole premise of Trump's threat of tariffs is based on a lie. He's claiming Mexico must be bullied into stopping migrants. But Mexico is *already* doing this. That's a big reason crossings have dropped. 1/
