Yes – and this isn't a commentary on the specific piece here, as I haven't had chance to read it – but: the conversation is almost identical to the one about mental health. Which is that we *constantly* talk about the need to talk about it, and never have the actual bloody conversation.
'No-one is talking about young men' increasingly occupies the same space as 'we need an honest conversation about immigration'. We never shut up about young men. It's one of the only things we ever talk about, although admittedly only ever to say 'we need to be more reactionary'.

I know doomerism doesn't look good on anyone but it feels increasingly hard not to believe that Trump's second presidency will very fundamentally change the course of history, very much for the worse, there are so many ways in which things could soon go incredibly, world-alteringly wrong

Never drive tired. Never go to bed on an argument. Never visit M&S Simply Food while feeling emotional after some pints.

How to create a cycling culture where none exists? Build a complete network, and build it quickly. Between 2016 and 2024, Vilnius built 164 kilometres of Dutch-inspired, red asphalt cycle paths, and went from 1.5 to 4.5% modal share—a three-fold increase—in two political terms.🧵

Well continued my lifelong ability to never getting a German train that ran on time. But unfortunately needing a route where DB has decided no trains should run for 12+ months. I never thought I would find a worse version of the UK rail replacement bus services, but here we are

Super glad to have organised the usual ridiculous work travel in October across Europe. So my packing is more unhinged than normal to cope with whatever 15-20 degrees in France and Germany decides to bring.

At least I managed to find a bit of calm in the chaos

Nothing I love more than chaotic Saturday mornings because people can't just pick a time to meet! I do not care what time, just pick one 48 hours before so I can plan my life

Great example of the Anti-Trans Two-Step:
If you make a substantive critique they go, "Why can't you point to a specific error?!"

If you point to a specific error they go, "You're nitpicking because you don't have a substantive critique!"

Looking forward to the judgement of the hound who will come home to realise I've washed all his beds and blankets. Nowhere was safe from his stinky butt
