In college, my Econ professor asked me why I'm a liberal. I said:

"Economically, because I'm willing to accept some economic inefficiencies if it means an acceptable, guaranteed standard of living for everyone.

As for socially, I'm a liberal because I care more about people than money. Duh."

You had me at 120 Minutes
Starting now at twitch.tv/djjakerudh, I present ’The Best of 1988’ with 5+ hours of classic alternative music videos.

If you used to watch MTV’s “120 Minutes” back in the late ‘80s / early ‘90s this is your show. 📺

This is what real farmers think of replacing farmworkers with machines and Medicaid recipients.

I’m inspired by the words of @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social, the winner of last night’s mayoral primary election in New York City.

Our system may be under attack by Big Money and demagogues, but let his victory serve as a reminder that power belongs to the people.

I'd say we have an aging incumbent centrists problem.

And a very clear window into why democrats are failing to stop this sh!t show.

Dear Democrats: You should fear us more than your donors. If you capitulate to Trump, no amount of money will save your careers. If you join our fight, you won’t need their money to win. This movement will have your back.

Thank you @repilhan.bsky.social 👏
Since we DID just have a vote on impeachment today, let's check in with the representatives who said that what Trump did was impeachable or unconstitutional, shall we?

As a reminder, here is the list of people who voted to continue consideration of Rep. Al Green's HRes 537.

So happy about this! One win at a time.
A win! Thank you to everyone who spoke out! After facing bipartisan resistance, the Senate Parliamentarian, ruled that Sen. Mike Lee’s proposal to sell off millions of acres of federal land cannot be included under reconciliation rules.

Obscene. Pathological money hoarders.

Billionaires are an abomination.
This is oligarchy. This is obscene.

While 60% live paycheck to paycheck & kids go hungry, Jeff Bezos, worth $230 billion, goes to Venice on his $500 million yacht for a $20 million wedding & spends $5 million on a ring while his real tax rate is just 1.1%.

End this oligarchy.

It's outrageous and scandalous that the Republicans canceled the one and only briefing they planned for Members of Congress on the war in Iran.

The Constitution makes clear that only Congress has power to declare war.

128 Dems against this impeachment resolution. Is there something in the water in DC??
It took less than two hours for the House to shoot down H.R. 537, Rep. Al Green’s impeachment resolution condemning the Donald John Trump, President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors.

House is currently voting on whether to table this, and way too many Democrats are voting Yes. WTF

Democrats cannot win back working class voters by putting forth more corporate backed politicians.

There's a better path forward.

It's one paved by leaders who stand up to the oligarchy and fight to make life affordable for working people.

Why do so many feel like they've fallen behind?

It's not because of immigrants, trans people, DEI, the “deep state,” or any other bogeyman trotted out by the GOP.

It's because big corporations and billionaires have rigged markets and siphoned off most of the economy's gains.

Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again.

While Mike Lee and Steve Daines' Senate Natural Resources Committee amendment to the budget reconciliation package mandates the sale of up to 3.3 million acres of public land, what most people miss is that it also authorizes the sale of 258 million acres. That's 40 percent of all public land:
