Hey! It's a thread on Rational Voter Theory!

RVT assumes that voters vote in their rational self-interest. It would be useful, because it allows people studying voting to use the entire math of economics to describe how people act and who wins.

In testing, it doesn't really work.
My politics textbook at university had a section on “rational choice theory” that began “humans are basically rational” and it made me feel like this.
