Later today, the @jcfjustice.bsky.social launch a report that demonstrates Irish society has moved decisively into a post-secular stage and it's past time for us all to leave our 20th century kneejerk nu-atheist tendencies behind

Theology friends:

Who is writing/speaking helpfully about relationships between men and women within the Christian faith?

Not romantic ones, but platonic friendships and mutually encouraging teamwork.

Very thankful this evening for technology. Just spent an hour on Zoom chatting with 4 other women from different denominations all over Ireland about mission and missional working and living. Super encouraging!

It's much easier to tear down than to build up, and it's far better to build a following doing it. Yet, as followers of Jesus, should this be the case?

The thread about the Salisbury Arms and the famous literary association that never was
My eye was caught by a claim in local news that the author Arthur Conan Doyle once frequented the Salisbury Arms. In the best spirit of Sherlock Holmes, this thread sets out to thoroughly and factually debunk this assertion. Along the way we will find out about the actual history of the building and those people and organisations who are correctly associated with it. We shall also be told a cautionary tale about the perils of the decline of factual integrity in local journalism and the dangerous potential for the propagation of machine-generated misinformation on the niche subject of Edinburgh local history.

Hello, I'm looking for British evangelical churches that have preached through the whole of 1 Kings and/or 2 Kings, with recordings on YouTube/website/podcast/whatever.

This is for a resource list for our church.

Suggestions please!

Once again IG parents doing Way Too Much at the beach. Your kids don’t need to “discover” a hairbrush covered in shells at the beach!!! Discovering real shells at the beach IS magical already!!! This just honestly makes me rage.

An important life skill to develop is the ability to not have an opinion on a thing.

This is because there are many things which it is not necessary for you to have an opinion on.

A related skill is recognizing that the list of things on which an opinion is required is different for everyone.

Dali's 'Christ of St John of the Cross,' (1951) is one of the most celebrated and criticised religious paintings of the 20thC. The power of the image rests on the paradoxes it presents to the viewer: Christ is immediately and physically present but also distant.
