New Yorker who really just wants to bake things and read books.
I finally watched It's a Wonderful Life for the first time. It was...ok. Some parts didn't age well, but that's to be expected. The whole idea that sacrificing his hopes and dreams and wants at every turn was the right/noble choice just sorta rubs me the wrong way.

i don’t normally endorse block lists (i’m on some, weirdly lumped in with people i myself have blocked) but i don’t see how blocking all these accts with one button is bad.

most importantly, DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THEM. they already own X so they wouldn’t be here if they weren’t trying to start shit.

People with autism are loved and valued. They are sons and daughters, fathers and mothers. They live with challenges and overcome hardships most of us can’t imagine. They are not an abomination in need of a scapegoat. And fuck every single person who would make them feel like they are.

This! Hitting my 40s and running out of fucks to give has been really liberating.
developing self-confidence later in life is such a trip because now I'm like, "I know who I am, I know what I can do, and if anyone has negative or contrary ideas about either, I have enough of a mental foundation to care so much less than when I was younger"

It's Consent Awareness Week. Friendly reminder that you can say no and don't have to offer an explanation. "I don't want to" is also an extremely valid and excellent reason to say no.

If corporations didn’t own office buildings they’d be the first arguing for people to work from home.

“Why should we buy a place for you to work when you can work from home??”

Someday, I will stop checking out more library books than I can reasonably fit in my backpack.

Today is NOT that day.

Fascism is here. We are not “getting closer” or “in danger of.”

This matters because it frames our discussion: We aren’t trying to prevent it, we’re trying to defeat it. It’s not taking over our institutions, it’s taken them over.

Otherwise, we’re always behind, fighting a past we’ve already lost.

I can't with the souvenir photo ops and "cute" names for the Dade-Collier Concentration Camp.

I hope the people taking those photos never sleep another night in peace. I hope their hot food is always cold and their cold food is always warm. Let them receive warm mayonnaise on everything.
