ime the inability to take a break is usually rooted in the insecurity that if you don't milk your inspo while you have it, you'll lose it, so it feels like you're wasting opportunity & you don't trust yourself to maintain it voluntarily

and when that happens anyway it feeds in as confirmation bias

It's not harmless. It's not "just an innocent thing" to be fooled by AI. You NEED to be able to discern and differentiate reality. You NEED to know how the world works on a basic level.

Because fooling you with baby animals and flowers is just the start of something much worse.

The most shocking revelations:
1) Google fired employees for simply interacting with the protesters
2) The protesters were put on administrative leave midday so Google could revoke their security badges/access to server, which made it possible to claim they were trespassing.
NEW: My interview with one of the Google workers arrested and fired for protesting their $1.2 billion contract with Israel.

this is why it doesn't matter if it's "oh they just used AI for marketing" or "oh they just used AI for a couple of images you'll barely notice". they are trying to get you used to them feeding you slop. there needs to be a firm line. Use AI, get fucked.
Between this, Harper Collins announcing AI audiobooks, A24 starting AI marketing, it's clear the companies holding art hostage are trying to pull a slow lobster boil on us with AI. I hope we continue to shame them mercilessly for betraying their human artists & audience.
Netflix Doc ‘What Jennifer Did’ Uses AI Images to Create False Historical Record
Documentary filmmakers were publishing guidelines on how to ethically use generative AI right as Netflix’s true crime doc was adding fake images to the historical record.

Hey just a reminder that every artist and writer and creative gig person you know is currently dying from paying last year's taxes + this year's estimated taxes, and now is a great time to put a few dollars in their patreon or ko-fi or whatever

We are poisoning ourselves: this, the fake 'this mushroom is safe to eat' books, the false obituaries; it makes me feel slightly detached from reality.
Rather insane thing that happened: someone emailed me asking for a link to my TedX talk, which they remembered but could no longer find.

When I wrote back to say I had never done a TedX talk, they replied with an extensive summary of this non-existent talk, generated by ChatGPT, offered as proof.

Replaying TLOU2 is as devastating as ever, but making Ellie wear a space suit while doing so? Priceless. My fiance and I keep forgetting she's wearing it, which results in both of us screeching at the screen whenever it shows up 🧑‍🚀

20 years ago we were suing teenagers for millions of dollars because they were torrenting a single Metallica album and now billionaires are demanding the free right to every work in history, so that they can re-sell it.

The law only ever serves capital.
