Ok. So there's A LOT of misinformation about the government shutdown, the continuing resolution and gender-affirming care. There was one article in PinkNews that was VERY shoddy about what Trump said. So let's breakdown what's true and what's BS. 1/

Trump threatens to shut down US government unless all trans health care is banned
The US government's looming shutdown hinges on anti-trans measures after Donald Trump refused to speak to Democrats unless they were passed.

Pay attention to LA but also pay attention to what is happening in Washington while they’re trying to distract us. The Behemoth Billionaire Bill cuts Medicaid, transfers wealth to billionaires, and goes after the very foundations of our democracy.

How the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ positions US energy to be more costly for consumers and the climate
Some technologies could rapidly cut emissions, while others do little to fight climate change. The House bill favors the latter while nixing support for the former.

“This is not about democrat or republican, it is about right and wrong” -Senator Cory Booker

24 hours later and wiping the segregationist prior record holder from that place in history, Senator Booker has yielded the floor.

Powerful stuff.

But… then business as usual continued.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Cory Booker breaks the record for longest Senate speech, previously held by segregationist Strom Thurmond.

20 hours and counting and you can tell Cory Booker’s feet hurt by how much he’s shifting his weight constantly… and he keeps going, speaking truth. When he finally has to sit down, who will take the floor next? Who will take up the torch and keep going?
Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

This both reveals the shaky ground the administration is on, and is horribly disappointing. As an upstate New Yorker with family who are voters in her district, we were really looking forward to getting rid of her,

a cloture vote for the way-harder-to-undo-than-an-executive-order federal anti-trans sports ban is now set for monday. that means there's more time to make calls.

no on cloture means it doesn't get a vote. the GOP needs 7 dems to advance it.

please call. there is *so* much evil downstream of this.

Protests beget more protests as people see that its ok to express frustration openly.

First, they came for the immigrants. Then they came for the trans folx. We know how this poem ends and it’s not good. Do not be silent.
I fear Trump included 18-year-olds as a test to see if the courts will uphold restrictions on transgender adults’ health care. If so, he may try to expand these restrictions to all age groups. Targeting minors may be a tactical, temporary move.

Trump’s anti-trans Executive Order is bad BUT it technically defines everyone as female. It states:

“'Female' means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell."

Since all fetuses "at conception" are female, Trump just defined EVERYONE as female.
