If there's one thing that domestic violence research has taught me, it's that abusers set up no-win scenarios. They punish you whether you cooperate with them or whether you push back.

The only way out is to strengthen ties with people outside of the relationship who can create new, better options.

Dear media: Every time you platform an infectious disease minimizer, or promulgate the idea of "immunity debt" you make yourself more complicit in the downfall of public health and the return of preventable diseases.

Lots of people wished me a happy international women’s day and I am grateful for the sentiment - all of it is absolutely received with love. That being said, I find the whole thing sort of icky. We are half of the population. We shouldn’t need a fucking day to remind people we exist and do things.

I've been thinking a lot about that bumper sticker which says "everything looks like a conspiracy theory when you don't understand how anything works" and folks it's pretty obvious to me that the people in power right now have absolutely no desire to understand how anything works.
