Languages are academically interesting
And they provide opportunities.

But I view language learning as a personal path, also. A small way in my microcosm to foster tolerance, unity and understanding

A constant reminder that people are important outside of the sphere into which I was born

New Study Reveals Exercise Eases Symptoms of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL), ETHealthworld
Guildford: Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) is the most common adult blood cancer in the western world, and it predominantly affects older adults. Most people are diagnosed after the age of 70, but increasing numbers of younger people, some under 60, are also being affected. CLL starts when a type of immune cell called a B cell - normally responsible for producing antibodies - becomes cancerous.

A new study finds that “promoting active travel modes, particularly cycling, may be associated with better brain health and lower dementia risk.” With rising healthcare costs and an aging population, it's another reason that politicians should stop ripping up bike lanes.
Cycling is a magic pill for dementia
A study shows that people who cycle regularly have a 19% lower risk of all-cause dementia and a 22% lower risk of Alzheimer’s. But let's tear up those bike lanes!

“This study reminds us that brain health is shaped not only by illness but by our everyday environment. The pandemic put a strain on people’s lives, especially those already facing disadvantage.”
