You know that feeling of dread deep in the body, over something important undone? You do the thing, & it goes away. I feel this continually about what humans are doing to other life, the land, air, water. That feeling, on a vast scale. I do my bit of the thing. It’s so tiny. Powerless grief & rage.

We love a dunnock. There are many who visit the feeders here and bring up their families in the trees.

Was looking for Swanee River on YouTube this morning and found this exuberant version by the polymathic Hugh Laurie. Quite a delight.

A gentle, tender version of the song my husband is currently playing to the chickens, once they are in bed (a family tradition for years now).

At nearly 60, I finally seem to have grown a rooted, branched sense of what life is for, & the purpose of the rest of my life is to practice living that more fully & deeply.

The ICC’s arrest warrants are long overdue.

The Prime Minister & Foreign Secretary must immediately endorse this decision. That is the bare minimum.

Will the UK government now, finally, honour its international obligations to prevent genocide and end all arms sales to Israel?

It’s dawning on me that, since the US election, I feel hopeless about human beings & any chance of our extricating ourselves/other life from the mess we have made. I didn’t before, despite climate change, Gaza genocide & all the other horrors. Now I do.
