Some DOGE political appointee choosing which grants to fund is oppression of academic freedom and scientific freedom.

If the right wants to kill science in the US, the surest way to do that is to take away scientists’ freedom to judge which ideas are meritorious.
Read the whole thing. You won’t be surprised, but you should be outraged.

Today I am resigning from the National Science Board and the Library of Congress Scholars Council.

I’m a scientist, a federal worker, and a proud union member.
This May Day, I feel powerful.

And that’s exactly what the Trump admin fears.

They’re gutting our federal agencies, sabotaging public universities, and trying to crush unions. Not because we’re broken—but because we’re strong.

What's DOGE's response? Fire half of the Social Security tech team.

I'm pushing back.

It's getting a lot of attn today. But even before today most of the country had very little idea of what has happened at NIH or through it the entire ecosystem of biomedical research in the US. Simply put, Musk, Kennedy & Trump exploded a bomb right in the middle of cancer cure research in the US.

Musk and Trump are stopping NIH research into cures, for diseases from cancer to Alzheimer’s. Americans did not vote for this.
