In his telephone town hall meeting last night, Rep. John McGuire raised the specter of removing regulatory barriers to uranium mining. That would be a disaster for Virginia, which has a bleak history of oversight into environmental problems. I should know. I’m from Hopewell.

Then, on Feb. 6, we learned that the Trump administration had rescinded even more job offers—this time for seasonal law enforcement rangers, wildland firefighters, and EMTs. These are roles directly tied to public safety, supposedly exempt from Trump’s Jan. 20 hiring freeze.
