It has been so easy for fossil fuel companies and government agencies to lie about methane emissions as it was mostly self reported. Now that we have begun to get real data from satellites and elsewhere, the news is really bad. They could lie so they did. Just one more example.

Greenwashing is a problem everywhere & it shouldn't be a thing at COP28 or any other climate summit, but it most definitely is. The Guardian covered @spendwell.bsky.social's report on climate commitments & targets set by COP28 sponsors. Its not pretty. I'll break this report down in a thread here.
