Same reason why Tumblr continues to maintain a reputation as a "dead" website despite having an active userbase btw. It's not what it was pre-2018, but it is still alive. Just nobody knows how to curate their own online experience anymore, we rely on algorithms to tell us what to like now 😒
Bluesky "feels empty" because you are responsible for finding the content you want to see, as opposed to waiting for an algorithm to spoon feed you content it tells you that you want to see.
