It’s funny how much traction the pension thing is getting. People are really angry about her getting a pension that she literally earned outright.

MTG has increased her net worth by up to $25 million since taking office (from just $700k!) but people get riled up that she qualified for a pension.
AOC on MTG retiring: "She's carefully timing her departure just 1-2 days after her pension kicks in and after making millions of dollars insider trading stocks for weapons manufacturers and others while in office."

Gmail set this up so that, if you do opt out, you lose all of the useful features like mail filtering, spam filters, spell check, and shit that has been around for years. It turns your inbox into a dump full of everything, making it essentially pointless to use gmail at all.

A massive cache of Flock lookups collated by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) shows as many as 50 federal, state, and local agencies used Flock during protests over the last year.

This is the exact phrase used on trans people and our healthcare. Now it's being used to eliminate access to vaccines and kill children with preventable diseases.

but "I won't vote for somebody who DOES support trans people" is NOT considered a hostage-taking purity test

then we aren't against hostage taking, we're just choosing our preferred hostage

The parts about Palantir and Tyson play right in line with what I remember in TN. People were dying and the Tyson contractors just moved ops. To hear it was due to AI and they chose not to protect the workers is so gross, they had the predictions and they made that choice, it's worse than ignorance

Don’t donate to or defend any politician or PAC who will trade away human rights using the right wing sneer about identity. They are telling you that you’re disposable for their quest to power.

THAT'S LITERALLY HOW THE SUBSIDIES & ACA EXCHANGES WORK ALREADY.

CONSUMERS ARE INFORMED BY COMPARING POLICIES ON THE ACA EXCHANGES, THEN THEY PURCHASE ONE AND THE GOVERNMENT PAYS SOME OR ALL OF THE COST OF THAT POLICY.

I'M TEARING THE LITTLE HAIR I HAVE ON MY HEAD OUT.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."

If they stopped gutting ACA we would have that in a portal where others are buying the same which is buying in bulk and not as individuals

I wonder if they know most large employers self-insure their employees but go through the insurance companies due to those negotiated prices.

I think of Occupy regularly. I see it as the turning point where TN really started cracking down on the 1st Amendment. Occupy protests camped on a !MARBLE! courtyard. Now we have laws against camping, protesting can require permits and coordination, if you do it wrong you can be charged w a felony
It's still wild to me how much we've memory holed Occupy Wallstreet.

a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

When six Southern public university systems this summer formed a new accreditation agency, the move shook the national evaluation model that higher education has relied on for decades.
