Coyotes are not as sociable as wolves, but they will tolerate one another just fine when there is a big meal to be had. This week, I observed a total of five coyotes at this carcass but could only get three in a photo at the same time. #YYC #mammal #winter

🌎 Chestnut-bellied Thrush (Turdus fulviventris) The Chestnut-bellied Thrush (Turdus fulviventris) is a medium-sized bird (about 25 cm (10 in) long) with a distinctive appearance: the male features a striking contrast between its black head/throat, dark grey back, and a vibrant rufous (chestnut) lower breast and belly. It is found across the northern Andes of South America, spanning from Venezuela to Bolivia, where it prefers humid montane forests and forest edges. It is a relatively solitary species, usually seen singly or in pairs, and its behavior is characterized by foraging both in the canopy and on the ground among the leaf litter for fruits and invertebrates. No subspecies are recognised.
