A truly staggering amount of calories and brain power gets wasted on sites like this between people arguing about what to do to revive these communities, win their votes, policies to make their lives better, and the people themselves can barely even agree on their being a problem to address

Family story is that my grandpa survived being a Sherman crewman by being injured during a training exercise in Georgia and developing gangrene, so he missed deploying to the Ardennes in fall/winter 1944. He was left with a metal sleeve that covered where they'd removed large parts of his flesh,
