Rich people spent $31 million to hang out with other rich people and it's all tax deductible because the money goes to a nonprofit -- the Costume Institute -- that performs the important public service of operating a walk-in closet for rich people's clothing.

After hearing Trump blather on for some 40 minutes with the new Canadian PM Mark Carney sitting there, I’d like to apologize to our longtime ally for this uneducated, ill-informed buffoonery and bombast pretending to be strength.

Zelenskyy text to Carney: So. How'd it go?

Carney reply: You were right. It does actually smell like McDonald's, bullsh*t and flop sweat in the Oval O.

That's not true. Just being on X, reading tweets, is recorded activity that they use to set rates with advertisers. Having an account - and especially just the act of logging in - is giving money to Nazi Musk.
In general terms, if you never interact with an ad, or pay for X, then you are a net cost to the company. I stuck around for a while, but left because it became unusable. I wouldn't judge anyone for sticking around so long as they are not helping Musk financially

"Canada does a lot more business with us than we do with Canada" is a perfect encapsulation of Trump's stupidity on the topic of trade. Simultaneously complaining that we steal $200B from them and that we're meaningless to them. Two lies rolled up in a third lie.

Danielle Smith is playing fast and loose with the future of the country. It seems like a long shot that Alberta would vote to leave, but who knows what happens once you start down this path. It’s a live-ammo outing now.

Someone on X pointed out the scant coverage of Ron Johnson saying 9/11 was an inside job. The press assumes Republicans are crazy and malevolent, so when they say crazy stuff it doesn't get covered. But they assume Dems are competent & sane, so any data point to the contrary is treated as big news.

“Funniest” line in tonight’s debate…

At one point, each candidate was able to ask 1 other candidate a tough question.

All 3 other candidates targeted Carney.

When it was Carney’s turn, he said “I guess I’ll ask myself a question too…”

Clever.

(Then he asked Poilievre about his security check.)
So because Mark Carney is the frontrunner in the Canadian Election, the NDP & Bloc end up spending more time attacking Carney, who they have more in common with, than they spend attacking the Conservative Pierre Poilievre, increasing the risk that PP could win & harm Canada.

Not great.

The reason we have multiple leaders on stage is a good one: we aren't just choosing (indirectly) a prime minister. We're returning a parliament with members from several parties.

This isn't a presidential debate. It's a parliamentary leaders' debate.

It is cancelled, and it is 100% thanks to Ezra making a scene and getting into fights. I’m in the room.

The Rebel have (I counted) no fewer than a dozen people in this room. There’s no journalistic rationale to send that many people.
