People cite this stuff as "NIMBY" but - it's not their backyard or even close to it? If anything this is an example of a perfectly reasonable town not caring about a perfectly fine battery project built on shitty land - the real problem is the deeper, systemic issue of Australian society / media

Does anyone know anything about Dr (PHD in ecology)Nici Mcsweany? She's doing a talk in our school about the ethical and feminist driven use of AI. But apart from self promotion, and that Microsoft loves her, I can't find how she actually expects AI to be female friendly. Worried she's a transphobe

"Trump's Washington is totally self-interested and has downgraded partners and allied interests in a way not seen since in the United States before World War II. Yet large sections of Australia's political class, along with its think tanks, still refuse to acknowledge it"
Trump putting America first could be a priceless gift to Australia
Trump cares little for alliances. So his presidency could well offer a priceless gift to Australia: a rare moment when national self-interest can eclipse sentiment.

That's more than 1,100 jobs lost at the CSIRO over the last two years.

"Combined, the staff association estimates that equates to cutting the agency’s size by a third."

This is more cuts to the CSIRO than was attempted by the Abbott government.

It is from diseased Tasmanian salmon farms?
