Federal Funding is what allowed it to scale so quickly.

Like many others I am dismayed by the effort to end IMLS. I know IMLS matters to so many people. I put together the following site to collect and share stories of how "IMLS matters" to people. Please consider submitting a story.

Live in Ohio? You need to get on the phone and in inboxes ASAP.
The new Ohio House budget would change the public library funding model, slash $100 million from libraries over the next two years, require relocating all trans/gender related books from eyesight of those under 18, and so much more.

This is *devastating*

DOGE has just completely gutted the IMLS, firing all staff, closing down their email addresses, and leaving any funding for 2025 in question.

Find in here links to what this federal money supports in (almost) each state, too.

The Institute for Museum and Library Services Was Just Gutted
DOGE fired all IMLS employees and closed down their emails. It is assumed all funding for 2025 coming from the federal agency will not be happening.

The President's executive order to dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services would be deeply harmful. We need to speak out.

From am email from NEMA: This executive order would essentially gut IMLS within 7 days. IMLS is an agency that is already operating at a min financial level, making up only 0.0046% of the federal budget. IMLS efficiently provides critical resources to libraries&museums in all states/territories. 🗃️📚📜
