So much of “unitary executive theory” ignores the fact that the Constitution explicitly gives the legislature certain powers over the executive domain - just as it gives the executive certain powers over the legislative domain.

the whole structure of this argument — independent agencies are politically unaccountable therefore the president must have removal power — treats congress as if it were a total nullity, or as if only the president truly represents the public.

BTW, I'm not someone who screams "war crime" every time something terrible happens in war. A lot of those people have never read the rules and don't understand them, beyond the sympathy they feel for those hurt or killed. But with Trump and "his generals", it's like the rules don't even exist.

Basically, if the President calls someone a "terrorist", on whatever highly creative grounds he wants, then the US military salutes and says, "yessir, they are a legitimate military target"? And Congress has nothing to do with it?
