Stunning admission from Trump in his Politico interview. He confesses he knows almost nothing about the drug trafficking of the guy he pardoned even though he helped bring 500 tons of cocaine into US. Trump also reveals his narcissism makes him easy to manipulate:

So much of “unitary executive theory” ignores the fact that the Constitution explicitly gives the legislature certain powers over the executive domain - just as it gives the executive certain powers over the legislative domain.

It is newsworthy that the president of the United States is increasingly verbally abusive of women reporters and he should be asked about it.

the whole structure of this argument — independent agencies are politically unaccountable therefore the president must have removal power — treats congress as if it were a total nullity, or as if only the president truly represents the public.

BTW, I'm not someone who screams "war crime" every time something terrible happens in war. A lot of those people have never read the rules and don't understand them, beyond the sympathy they feel for those hurt or killed. But with Trump and "his generals", it's like the rules don't even exist.

Basically, if the President calls someone a "terrorist", on whatever highly creative grounds he wants, then the US military salutes and says, "yessir, they are a legitimate military target"? And Congress has nothing to do with it?

NEW on CNN: In several old videos we found, Pete Hegseth blasted Trump in 2016 warning he could issue unlawful orders that troops should refuse, calling him an “armchair tough guy” with five draft deferments.

Now he’s attacking Democrats for saying same.

Trump said last year that he would focus on deporting immigrants who were violent criminals. But a study of arrests in major operations in DC, LA, Illinois and Massachusetts shows that the vast majority of those swept up by ICE have no criminal record.

The values of the United States of America as articulated in this latest National Security Strategy are the same as those of Russia and China. The only difference is blood (race) and soil (geography). Otherwise there's little for anyone to prefer one to the other.
