I work on technical challenges in a library lab during the day but also am about languages, gamedev, accessibility, VR and a bit of AI. Quite like old Commodore computers too.

Video games are an interesting #epherma area for #ac library collection.

Beyond platforms becoming obsolete & dysfunctional w/o server-side maintenance, a lot of current platforms for purchasing games just don't offer a legal option for library ownership and/or preservation.

The problem isn't that we lack evidence. It's is that we've yet to develop the political will to do anything re: radicalization. Politicians benefit from the virality of outrage. Platforms profit from the engagement spikes that anger, fear, & conspiracy generate. So we muddle along while Rome burns.

With the help of @rainlefever.bsky.social, our main character Liora now narrates the surface that she walks on!

Amongst all the fun of this it’s, once again, worth pointing out that I couldn’t convince a single university in the UK of the value of this sort of public history work or the benefits of a REF impact case study built around computer games and Lucasfilm. Worth reflecting on for academia I think. 🗃️

Starting July 25, Bluesky will require users in the UK to scan their face, upload an ID or verify their identity with a bankcard.

I realize that platforms feel they have no choice but to comply with the government surveillance schemes, but shocking nonetheless.

But what they're really worried about is that empathy is *feminine*.

And in MAGA, a woman is the worst thing a person can be. An analysis.
