A science agency wants to stop knowing which ideas are true and which ones aren’t.
🚨 NIH sent out another data call, this time for projects "related to any form of censorship at all or directing people to believe one idea over another related to health outcomes… e,g., any contracts to promote COVID vaccine uptake," I'm told.

These data calls have recently preceded terminations.

About 17 MILLION Americans have Long Covid. At least 50% of these meet criteria for ME/CFS. Does your government care? Does Trump give a damn? Does that joke RFK even know what these two disabling diseases are?
This is another example of their murderous intent.

"I think people don’t understand that. You’re asking, “Hey, would you mind protecting my life?” When someone’s like, “Oh God, what a pain in the ass,” experiences like that make you reticent to ask in the future." Excellent article about living with #LongCovid or, indeed, being #CovidAware at all.

If RFK Jr. really stands for confirmation as the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HEALTH and HUMAN SERVICES) we should march on the Capitol (metaphorically) with tetanus-tipped pitchforks to prevent him from taking us back a hundred years in health time. slate.com/technology/2...

Please call for this one, guys, this is a horrific turn.

There is something at the core of these folks that cannot accept patient narrative as a source of real data. They revert to default tropes about exercise rather than listening, or reading up-to-date studies.
Advocacy alert ‼️ New Canadian draft recommendations for Long Covid are out, & they include concerning guidance to EXERCISE to prevent Long Covid, & to use CBT as a treatment.

You do not need to be Canadian to tell this survey exactly how insulting so many of these suggestions are. 🤬 #LongCovid
Check out Canada's Long Covid draft suggestions by doing this survey. It's a whole lot of diet, exercise, and CBT, and not much in the way of actual tests or effective interventions. You can comment on each question!! #LongCovid #Covid-19 www.research.net/r/CAN-PCCRec...

Laura did such good work at SciAm. It's a huge loss for the magazine.
I’ve decided to leave Scientific American after an exciting 4.5 years as editor in chief. I’m going to take some time to think about what comes next (and go birdwatching), but for now I’d like to share a very small sample of the work I’ve been so proud to support (thread)

There is no joy so big as the joy that folks with long covid and ME/CFS, and the allies who are truly and deeply in this with us, will feel when we find proper treatments for these illnesses. When we find ways of preventing these illnesses.

That joy will be bigger than the Sun.
