Finished my first "Winter Stress Mender" by @angiegracecoloring.bsky.social and @lettieblue.bsky.social and had so much fun! I'm a little pattern obsessive, as well as being a bit obsessed with Nutcrackers, so this fit the bill perfectly, and 'The Nutcracker Suite' is one of my favourite ballets! 😍🎄

Day 9, exploring pigments. This is painted with PB28 Cobalt Blue and PO62 Benzimida Orange. Don't they make a lovely range of browns? #ArtAdventCalendar
A watercolor painting of a California Tortoiseshell butterfly. These medium sized butterflies are mostly orange, with brown to black edges on their wings and a few spots in the same color. The leading edge of the forewings has a large rectangular mark merging with border. A few small, bright white spots accent the outer edge of the forewings. This butterfly is seen from above, with the wings spread. It is depicted on a light blue rectangle, casting a deeper blue shadow across the rectangle and onto the white page. Lighting is coming strongly from the right. The orange paint is PO62 Benzimida Orange. It is a warm, medium-to-light orange color, semi-opaque, and slightly staining in watercolor. The other color used is Cobalt Blue PB28, which is a classic sky-blue and softly textural. The deep brown and neutral tones in this piece are entirely created with these two colors, which are neutralizing complements. White highlights are painted with Dr. PH Martin's Bleedproof White gouache.

Love plants but I’m not very good at taking care of them 😓 Surprisingly, Lazy, my Nepenthes carnivorous plant, is still alive after 4 months👏👏👏 I call it Lazy because if I don’t feed it, it doesn’t eat bugs—and I bought it just for that purpose!!! It seems flies prefer bothering humans…

Progress. Yes, that sharper point black was much easier to use than the other colors. Next, do another mask with attention to using my sharpest crayons in the small areas and dull tips in the larger areas. See if that can help wear down my resistance to finally sharpening my crayons. 😆😆😆

Letting go - a work in progress.
