I feel compelled to write a review thread 🧵 for The Liz Truss Show because in the madness of the content, other aspects - vital aspects - are being missed.

1. The Aesthetics

Unless they were aiming for "Harley Street urologist waiting room circa 1992" this interview area is just unacceptable. 1/

139 flag complaints received by the county council, but FOI shows only one was removed. Hundreds were left to residents who faced intimidation and a serious assault when trying to remove them.
Left to danger: Norfolk council inaction leads to flag-related violence
As Norfolk refused to act on flag complaints, locals removing them instead found themselves threatened and violently attacked

New post just out:

The relationship between Russia and the European radical right goes well beyond Reform's Nathan Gill being bribed.

In this post I trace the history back to the 1990s and look at the threat it poses now.

The very idea that Farage/ Tice/ ReFuk are denying Nathan Gill, recently convicted of taking bribes to tout for Russia, as being one of theirs is utterly ludicrous.

Farage and Nathan Gill go WAY WAY back to their shared party (UKIP then BXP) in the European Party. Then ReFUK
I would also point out that a ReFuk Government under Farage is likely to leave us with an even thinner fig leaf, given the quite long history of Farage - Nathan Gill type touting for Russia whilst in the EU Parliament.

Not to mention some of their financial backers cosying up to the 🇷🇺 ambassador

"So, the very same day free speech champion Nigel Farage denied banning critical journalists from his events, his team did exactly that.

"In theory, this could be more than just painfully ironic for Farage. Evidence sessions to Congressional committees are given under oath…"
Did Farage just lie to US congress under oath?
At a hearing in DC, the leader of Reform said that he does not ban journalists from his party’s conference - just hours after his party banned The New World

This is very odd analysis. Most of the Government's problems are the fault of the party that was in charge for 14 out of the past 15 years. The Conservatives never stopped blaming their predecessors. Why would Labour after less than a year?

A year on from the election, the government needs to demonstrate delivery to claw back some popularity.

Reform UK is actually a limited company controlled by Nigel Farage. In both form and content it is an authoritarian vehicle. By according Farage the same privileges as normal democratic parties, Labour is giving legitimacy to a party that delegitimises our laws /15

Why framing matters. The day(s) after Election Day, the general vibe was that Trump won and it wasn't close. That fed the narrative that it was a "mandate" and a "landslide."

In reality it was neither.
"Repeat after me: there was no 'landslide'. There was no 'blowout'. There was no 'sweeping' mandate given to Trump by the electorate. The numbers don’t lie."

My new Guardian op-ed on the new GOP election lie - and why it's important to rebut it! I brought (lots of) receipts:
Donald Trump didn’t win by a historic landslide. It’s time to nip that lie in the bud | Mehdi Hasan
In 2024, we have a new post-election lie – Trump didn’t just win, Republicans say, but he won big. He won a landslide. That’s false
