After a recent round of severe weather and subsequent power outage, it’s clear that my neighborhood has minimal survival skills 😩🤦🏽‍♀️
Folks it’s time to learn things, stay aware, have supplies!!

Michigan peeps:

pay attention to what is going on in the state senate. The same yahoos creating chaos at local school board meetings, just passed a bill to defund the state department of education. They have made their intentions clear. 😡

We f’ing TOLD YOU SO. It doesn’t end with just this. They want to monetize the weather, education and so much more

A weather app would not be as reliable without data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and private-sector companies could not obtain critical information on demographics without data collection from the federal government.
The Vast Dangers of Trump’s War On Information
With dramatic cuts to departments and efforts to restrict access to certain research, the administration is reshaping a vast data-driven world in its autocratic image.

From an FDA probationary employee: the firings are coming from outside the agency without cause and with zero input from supervisors (as promised.) More firings expected between now and Tuesday. Do not open the termination email before you download your documents and performance evals.

We are a NWS family and holding our breath waiting. This isn’t about saving money this is a personal vendetta against scientists.
NOAA is reportedly on the DOGE chopping block.

The National Weather Service, which is part of NOAA, provides life saving weather forecasting in the US.

A study found that for every $1 invested in NWS, it produces $73 in value to Americans.

Again, this isn't about efficiency.

DOGE is reportedly threatening NOAA with massive staff and budget cuts.

NOAA houses the National Weather Service and National Hurricane Center, which produce forecasts and warn people about storms.

This attack on public safety is ripped straight from the pages of Project 2025.

The U.S. #NationalWeatherService, housed within #NOAA, is a truly world-class meteorological predictive service, perhaps singularly so. It costs only ~$3/yr per taxpayer, & yields ~10:1 return on investment--saving economy 10s-100s of billions, not to mention thousands of lives.
Hearing reports that Musk’s cronies are targeting NOAA — infiltrating key systems and locking out career employees.

NOAA is vital for weather forecasting, scientific research and more. Their critical work saves lives.

My team and I are looking into this and we will not stand for it.

Losing NOAA would be devastating. Project 2025 authors want to get rid of it because it monitors climate change, and privatize the information it currently provides for free, so you'll have to buy information about the weather and the winds (imperative for mariners).

Trump team is sabotaging our government. OMB nominee Russell Vought has said he wants to put career civil servants “in trauma,” so that when “they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains.” Why? Privatize and monetize!
The Senate should reject Russell Vought’s nomination to be Director at OMB - CREW | Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington
Russell Vought should not be confirmed as Director at OMB since he was a central figure in attempting to implement Schedule F.

It’s human and okay to feel scared and anxious as a reaction to what is going on.
But, don’t let events lead the pace of your life. What you believe and feel and how you behave shapes your reality, so choose accordingly. Express your feelings and then regain control. #stillhopeful
