This statement from the NSF is insane.

Science is, in essence, designed to separate the true from the false.

Understanding how falsehoods spread is key to the scientific endeavor. It is not a violation of free speech to be proven wrong.

💯 Yes!! A senior colleague told me this once, and it made all the difference! As I like to tell grad students, resist the urge to compare yourself and your progress to others. Plus, you don't know what is going on behind the scenes of others' progress. It might not be what you think. So, do you!!
Everyone's path is unique. Your pace doesn't have to match anyone else's. You're not behind; you're just on your own journey.
