After a comical three weeks where 1) I forgot my user name 2) was told the incorrect user name by a friend 3) failed to log in with the username that doesn't exist... I now have another account @shenose.bsky.social I might use it for other stuff at some point... 1/3

Need reassurance that anyone who has ever started their own business for the first time made it up as they went along and was equally befuddled by bookkeeping, contracting, and general maintenance. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

It sucks that only white straight guys (with a few exceptions) actually got to take advantage of the era where you could get paid a livable amount of money to do weird, interesting journalism

In food news, I’ve been trying to develop this recipe for rutabaga gnocchi. A little knowledge of what makes good gnocchi, a few unexpected tips from a generous chef, and a whole lot of frustrating (but fun) experimentation and we are slowly getting somewhere. Also seen: salmon, leek, miso, butter.

In all seriousness Bluesky has taught me I actually want two things in a social media app: it barely works so I can’t use it all the time, and I can scroll to the end and feel done with it. Reliability and bottomless content are features everyone was dying to implement and actually both are curses

Things that are exhausting and unfunny to me: memes about Australian accents. Literally ALL of us sound funny. Your Midwest accent is ridiculous. Can we move on? I don’t have the patience to be always be told the way I say “no” is funny.
