At some point it feels like some political scientists have forgotten how government works! Trump's not going to get rid of FEMA folks. He's not going to get rid of the NIH. He can't do either because both have strong congressional support, including from Republicans.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
