I tried something new on Random Pursuit. I can't say it completely succeeded, but it semi-failed in a funny way, so I'll take that as a podcast win! (And we already have tweaks ready for a potential future try) #gameshow https://www.theincomparable.com/gameshow/269/
I Should Have Known It But I Didn't Say It (Game Show 269)
It’s Random Pursuit, but with a twist! Welcome to the pilot episode of Random Pursuit: Choose Your Own Edition! In this new occasional variant, each contestant chooses their preferred edition of Trivial Pursuit, limiting the pool of questions to five editions. Now, how many players will actually randomly select questions from their preferred editions…

Where We Stand, Where We Fall: The politics of Doctor Who | Herne Books new
March 2026 978-1-917665-05-6 - HARDBACK (198x126mm) – 192pp - £14.99 This book demonstrates that cultural icon Doctor Who is, always has been, and always should be, a political narrative. As this much-loved science- fiction show, now in its 62nd year, continues to entertain audiences around the world, some people have complained that the writing, themes and presentation is too political. But, claims Lizbeth Myles, Doctor Who has always explored important and controversial political issues, and it is vital that it continues to do so. This insightful, intelligent and entertaining book looks back at some of the most prominent political themes that the series has tackled over the decades – including Nuclear Annihilation, Feminism, Colonialism, Environmentalism, Scientific Responsibility, and Transhumanism – the historical context in which they has been framed, and how the messaging has changed in different eras of the show’s history.Lizbeth Myles: is an award-winning podcaster, writer, and editor. She’s a three time Hugo award finalist: she was nominated twice for her work on the Verity! podcast, and once for editing the Doctor Who essay anthology Chicks Unravel Time. She’s written Doctor Who and Blake’s 7 for Big Finish and the BBC, and contributed articles to SFX and Doctor Who Magazine. She lives in Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.

Weirdly, by watching Harry’s Game last night and listening to a random music podcast this morning, I heard both songs sung by Martin Brennan on This Time With Alan Partridge.

I watched all three episodes of this last night so I could listen to this. Fun fact: three of the Doctor Who actors in this are from stories directed by Paddy Russell!
A new episode of World of Telly is out now. This week we look at the political thriller Harry's Game from October 1982. It's available wherever you get your podcasts. The video version of this episode will be out next week.

Random thought I had just now: did they use a clip from The Evil of the Daleks, Episode Two for the recap sequence mainly because the original master was on 35mm and thus was easier to play back?

Not even hiding the blatant entitlement anymore.

The Premier's Office continues to remove all checks and balances on its power.

The courts, the legislature, the Auditor General, independent agencies, the federal government, voters and candidates they don't like...

This is getting ridiculous.

For the sake of symmetry, I hope a future Doctor Who producer finds their new Doctor actor in this particular store. It worked in a way for Verity Lambert.

Every 10-12 minutes for me.
About every half hour today, one of my brain cells says “Hey, should we think about that Blue Jays game at all?” and then all the other ones go “NOPE” and beat the first one to death.

Literally nobody has called them this. How is the NYT always wrong.
The World Series was played outside the U.S. for the first time in 32 years this October, when the Toronto Blue Jays united fans across Canada as the country’s only MLB team. The team even became known as the “Glue Jays” before the Los Angeles Dodgers ended their thrilling postseason run.

The Blue Jays, Canada’s only M.L.B. team, were a salve for a country hit by President Trump’s threats and tariffs. Then the Dodgers ended their thrilling postseason run.
